Summer 5-K Runs
I am looking forward to the 5-k runs i will be running in this summer. I love running and staying in shape. As a physical education teacher, its my job to be in shape and to lead by example for my students. My favorite run is the venetian festival 5-k run because it is in my town of Saint Joseph, MI and the run is right next to the beach. The run is early in the morning so you have some beautiful views of the lake. Wish me Luck !!!! Last year my 5-K time was 25:31. Not bad for a mature women :)
Sister Queen Love
I met one of my best friends that was competing in the US Beauties pageant with me. Katie Maskey is one of the nicest, most caring, most amazing women i have ever met and we hit it off right away. Katie competed in the Mrs. Midwest Galaxy pageant and i was not going to miss seeing my sister queen and best friend compete. So i drove 3 1/2 hours to watch her WIN!!!! I know Katie would do the same for me. She is a true queen.
End of School 2011
The end of school came so fast this year maybe it was because i was teaching, coaching, and student senate advisor. Plus everything i do outside of school. This year was very special to me, i wanted to share some of my favorite pictures with everyone.
Collin
I was blessed with a student that had autism and his name was Collin. He was the sunshine of each day for me. He helped lead stretches with me, he ran laps with me and he had so much fun in my physical education class. One day his special ed teacher had a meeting and i took Collin and we made this amazing poster for his room. He loves super heros. That one one one time with him was priceless, he kept telling me how proud he was of me because i was helping him color his poster. I will always remember students like Collin.
2011 Miss Mud Hens Pageant Showdown
A sister Queen of mine invited me to the first annual Miss Mud Hens Pageant Showdown. I am so excited for this event because i was an All-American softball player in college and i get to see my pageant family. The competition will be held in between innings and we will be competing in silly games. It sounds like fun and each queen will be representing her title and platform. Wish me luck!!!!!!!
My Platform
I have really been out in my community talking about my platform "healthy lifestyles through physical education" lately. I am very passionate about this topic. I was recently at Harbor Shores Golf Course at an advent and i had multiple conversations about who i was, the US Beauties pageant system and my platform. I made some very good contacts within my own community and have had some great ideas how to better Southwest Michigan and make it a healthier place.
PS I dont know how to change my date on my camera!!!!

Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency Warehouse
On Wednesday, I went and volunteered my time to the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency Warehouse in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This agency works in communities in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. The SMCAAW delivers food to senior center, families in need, and homeless shelters. It was a great experience, i was able to work with local high school students. Volunteering your time and hard work was such a humbling feeling, you feel so proud not only of yourself but for the younger students that where there doing a great thing, help their communities.
I worked from 9 a.m till 2 p.m, i chose not to wear my crown and banner because i was not only there to make an appearance but i wanted to roll up my shelves and contribute. At the end of my day, myself and the local high school students put together over 1,000 of food to be distributed. I had a great time talking to the students about what title i held and what the US Beauties Pageant system stands for. Many of the young women took an interest in the US Beauties Pageant.
